Ayah’s story
9-year-old Ayah was born with a congenital heart defect. The condition went undiagnosed for many years and now she requires urgent open-heart surgery. If left untreated, it poses life-threatening risks, making each day a fight against time.
Originally from Tunisia, her family have lived in the UAE for the past five years. Unfortunately, their insurance is not sufficient to cover her treatment. Despite the uncertainty and financial constraints, her family remain hopeful. "Ayah's diagnosis was a shock, but it hasn't shattered our hope. We believe in her resilience and in the power of medical intervention to give her the chance at a full, healthy life."
Ayah loves school, enjoys arts and crafts and reading. Ayah’s heart condition often leaves her tired and lethargic with no energy caused by the strain on her heart. Her oxygen levels are often dangerously low, leaving her disheartened.
