Waad’s story
When Waad was born in April 2022 her parents' overwhelming joy was overshadowed by her life-threatening diagnosis. Waad was born with heart disease (incomplete atrioventricular septal defect) which can only be rectified with open heart surgery. If left untreated, it can cause heart failure.
Waad's parents are originally from Yemen. Her father works as a salesman in a small shop and as the main provider for the family he is unable to cover the costs of the life-saving surgery that Waad desperately needs.
“It's heartbreaking to see our baby girl suffer so much. Waad has great difficulty in breathing and we live in constant fear that her condition will get worse. The heart surgery will give our precious girl a second chance.”
