Talia’s story
3-year-old Talia was born with double inlet left ventricle (DILV), a very rare congenital heart condition where the heart develops only one ventricle — the essential pumping chamber of the heart. Talia’s young life is a testament to resilience, but she requires open-heart surgery to correct this challenging defect.
Talia’s parents, originally from Syria and Uzbekistan, have called the UAE home for over a decade. Her father works at a barbershop while her mother cares for Talia and her siblings.
Since her birth, Talia has undergone two surgeries. Unfortunately, the family have stretched their resources and the ‘Fontan’ surgery, crucial for her well-being, is financially out of reach for them.
Despite her health challenges, Talia radiates joy and is always smiling. She loves to play with other children but due to her heart condition she tires quickly, leaving her fatigued and disheartened.
Talia’s parents have not lost hope: “We long to see our precious girl happy, healthy and filled with energy like other children. Talia is a fighter, and we believe this surgery will give her the chance to grow up with a bright future ahead.”
